Rollasole lands on South African Shores!

“My feet are killing me.”

This is what millions of women around the world face on a daily basis. Blistered soles, cramped toes and throbbing feet are the painful reminder of a long night out for most ladies. Daily Mail reports that females routinely succumb to the agony, giving up their sky high stilettos at least 3 hours into a night out, eventually favouring a pair of flats in their handbag or choosing to end the night barefoot.

High heels are getting higher, and ladies will totter in their Jimmy Choo’s or Louboutin’s to emulate their favourite celebrities. Signature stiletto lovers in the playground of the rich and famous include Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian – these personalities are rarely seen in flats.

Towering heels do come at a price however. The American Osteopathic Association reveals that one in ten women wear high heels at least 3 days a week and a third have fallen while wearing them. Statistics show that high heels are one of the biggest factors of foot problems as a result of prolonged wear. These include osteoarthritis of the knee, leg spasms, varicose veins and lower back pain. Doctors recommend that in order to prevent long term damage, a few rules should be followed. These include wearing soft insoles, limiting the amount of walking in heels and switching to flats as often as possible.

The agony of feet for South African women can now come to an end. CEO of Rollasole UK, Matt Horan says, “No more do ladies have to endure the pain of 5 inch heels.” Horan, from Bristol, designed and patented an ingenious product called Rollasole – a fashionable ballet flat that neatly rolls up and comfortably fits in a clutch or purse. Forming the company in 2006, the brand has grown to Australia, USA and as of March, has launched in South Africa. Retailers such as Miss Selfridge, Topshop and Next also retail these prized favourites in London.

Rollasole SA Marketing Director Tashmeen Authar, speaks about the brand on South African shores. “Never before have we seen such excitement for a rollable shoe concept. Ladies have revelled in the comfort of putting on Rollasoles after a long night out, lengthy walks at the airport or even driving home after a strenuous day at work. No longer do women have to make poor choices in footwear and risk health problems later in life.”

Rollasoles retail online at $20 (from R249 for SA buyers) and are found at selected nightclubs in JHB and DBN. Find the ultimate after-party shoe, the rollable shoe the fits in your handbag, in our exclusive site,
